Uzhhorod National Medical University

Uzhgorod National University belongs to the classical universities of Ukraine and has the highest level - IV level of accreditation. UzhNU - one of the largest and best universities in the Carpathian region. It is located on the slopes of the Carpathians, in the wonderful student city of Uzhhorod, the westernmost regional center of Ukraine. The University of the Young, founded in 1945, but in a short period of time, proved its worth in the scientific world, became the benchmark, an alma mater for many generations of students, who now successfully work in Ukraine and in other countries of the world. In UzhNU formed powerful scientific schools, known far beyond our country, scientific cooperation with many leading universities of the world is being conducted.

Uzhhorod National celebrates its seventh dozen. Already passed a considerable path in the formation of higher education: powerful scientific schools have been formed, 21 faculties are opened, 109 departments, natural sciences and humanities college, 25 educational-scientific and research institutes, centers, laboratories. We have established international contacts with higher educational institutions in almost 20 countries of the world.

The services of teachers and students - both a powerful library and computer classes, and an upgraded sports complex with a modern pool and other facilities and institutions, which have created good conditions for steadily moving forward through harmonious development.

In these remarkable days for the alma mater, we especially remember those who were at the origins of the university, laid the foundations of his work with hard work. We are proud of the success of our institution in various fields of activity. The most important achievements are graduates. Among them - many prominent figures, scientists, educators, real professionals in various fields.

Going to the goal is not easy. The world is constantly changing, the present demands high demands, the dynamics of time require appropriate innovative approaches and competitive actions. In addition, our state is experiencing a difficult period in its development, is actually in a war. Scientific Achievements

Uzhgorod National University, according to the data of international science-computer bases, is one of the top ten leading scientific centers in Ukraine. For 70 years at the University developed its own school of teaching, scientific and educational traditions. In total, UzhNU employs 1275 scientific and pedagogical workers at the main place of work .among which 146 doctors of sciences, professors and 698 candidates of sciences, associate professors. The staff of the UzhNU are 2 correspondent members of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 2 academicians of the State Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 8 academicians of the Academy of Sciences of the Higher School of Ukraine, 11 Honored Scientists and Technicians of Ukraine, 4 Honored Workers of National Education of Ukraine, 7 Honored Education Workers of Ukraine, 6 Honored Lawyers Ukraine, 14 Honored Doctors of Ukraine, 5 Honored Inventors of Ukraine, 5 Masters of Sports.

The staff of the university defend about 10 doctoral and 40 candidate dissertations annually.

The University prepares theses for more than 50 specialties more than 300 postgraduate students and doctoral students. There are 6 specialized scientific councils for the defense of doctoral and candidate's dissertations - from physical, mathematical, medical, chemical, economic, historical and legal sciences.

The University publishes 12 specialized periodicals, more than 40 textbooks are published annually, about 30 scientific conferences are held, half of which - with the participation of foreign scientists.

Educational Priorities

Uzhgorod National University in every way contributes to the comprehensive self-realization of students. Currently, about 13 thousand 906 students study at UzhNU.

The University trains specialists in 8 areas of educational qualification level: junior specialist, 53 areas of bachelor's degree, 101 specialties of educational qualification levels "master" and "specialist".

The In all directions and specialties of all years of study, an innovative triad is implemented - in-depth study of foreign languages, qualitative assimilation of information technologies, intensive multi-level international relations.

9 languages are profoundly studied at the university: Ukrainian, English, German, French, Russian, Hungarian, Romanian, Slovak, Czech. No Central European University is showing such consistent and systematic interest in the languages of neighboring nations.

International Activities

Uzhgorod National University first of all solves three tasks - the growth of the number of foreign students, the development of programs of "double diplomas", an increase in the amount of grants involved in the modernization of the university.

Today, the University employs more than 90 partners from 17 countries.

Particularly intensified cooperation on the implementation of scientific works in the framework of the implementation of international projects - in the field of astronomy, information technology, economics, history, political science, sociology, cultural studies, tourism, food industry.

Among the largest international scientific projects of UzhNU: "Innovative Laboratories: Using Open Innovative Learning Platforms and Research Activities in Education for Enterprises", under the TEMPUS program; "Space Protection System for Emergencies - Transboundary System for Anticipating Extreme Natural Events Using Satellite Technologies in Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, and Ukraine" and "Pl @ NETour" - Creating a Science and Tourism Product and Network Infrastructure for Scientific Tourism in the Border Regions of Maramures and Transcarpathia ", within the framework of the implementation of the ENPI CBC program.

UzhNU students take part in various programs of academic mobility abroad: "semester training", "double diploma", studying and production practice. In particular, a cooperation agreement exists between the Uzhgorod National University and the Pomorskaya Academy in Slupsk, Poland, which allows students of UzhNU to study many specialties at similar positions in the Polish state-funded higher educational institution.

The University sends more than 400 teachers, researchers, postgraduates and doctoral students to foreign missions for the purpose of joint research, internship and participation in international scientific and practical conferences. Approximately the same number of foreign partners the university adopts each year in itself.

The University Today

The university today consists of the Ukrainian-Hungarian Educational and Scientific Institute, Natural Sciences and Humanities College and 20 faculties covering the spheres of: history, philology, law, social sciences, physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, medicine, stomatology, engineering, geography, physical education and sport, foreign languages, computer technologies.

There are over 13,000 students enrolled at the university. Several scientific institutes and laboratories are housed at the university too, including the Institute for Solid State Physics and Chemistry, the Institute of Carpathian Studies, the Research Laboratory of Physical Electronics with the Space Exploration Laboratory, the Center for Hungarian studies, and the Research Laboratory of Ecosystem Conservation. The university operates a botanical garden and a mountainside biological research station. Its library collection has approx 1.5 million volumes.
